Past Events of 2009
I want to spend a moment thanking all those who have some and seen us at the various events and conferences we have attended this year. There are still one or two more events in the diary so there is still chance to meet up but here is an idea of the things we have been involved with in 2009.

EVENTS:- How to grow your own Hemp House
On Monday 12th October we will be at Ralegh Cross Inn, Brendon Hill, Exmoor, TQ23 0LN for the "How to Grow your Own Home" - building with hemp event which will run from 9.30am till 4pm. For more information please see:-

This was a very informative event on Exmoor showing how hemp and straw can both be used to build houses for a more sustainable future. I will be adding details to our forum for more contacts on this subject. From Samantha
EVENT - Sustainable Textiles Conference 6th Oct LONDON
I was out of the office on Tuesday 6th October 2009 as I will be attending the Sustainable Textiles Conference run by RITE in London. This was a meeting of all those interested in the development of sustainable textiles ranging from sale traders to large companies like Tescos and IKEA. The experiences of all sizes of business have helped all involved better understand what sustainable textiles mean and where the research needs to go to develop them further. EVENT - 22nd and 23rd August 2009 - FIBREFEST 09
I would like to say a huge thank you to all of those who came and spoke to me Fiber Fest 2009, at Cold Harbour Mill in Uffculme last weekend. A big thank you must also go to the organisers and other stall holders for making it such an interesting and inspiring event.
This event is not back on untill 2011 now but we will be booking out space as soon as booking starts. For more details see :- http://www.fibrefest.co.uk/ similar events are WonderWool and WoolFest that will both be run in 2010.

EVENT - Spinning at the Big Sheep
Monday the 17th August and Tuesday the 18th August we will be spinning at The Big Sheep near Bideford in North Devon. Come along and see what hemp fibres look like before and after they are spun.
Normal Big Sheep entry prices apply.
I will be there between 10am and 2.30pm though other spinners are staying till closing time.
EVENT 19th July Environmental Rescue, Tapley Park
This Sunday we will be at the Tapley Park, Environmental Rescue Weekend. Due to other commitments we cannot be there on the Saturday but will be there all day Sunday and are looking forward to this event.
Come and find out more about protecting the environment while listening to great music, fascinating talks and so much more.
Visit: Tapley Park, near Instow, North Devon 11am till 5pm Saturday the 18th July and Sunday the 19th July. Come again in August when we do it all over again.

EVENT 18th July Green Man Festival Pilton
The annual Pilton Green Man Festival was once more bathed in sunshine and surrounded with music and fun. We had a good day demonstrating the properties of hemp and spinning with hemp fibres in the garden of Pilton House. Come along next year, we will be. EVENT-21st June - MUD, Chumleigh Community College
Starts at 11am and ends at 5pm
Location: Chumleigh Community College, Chumleigh, North Devon
It was good to get out to Chumleigh and see what the college is doing to try to promote the environment and rural skills in there college and surrounding area. We are likely to be back if the event is run next year.
EVENT-20th June Science Day, Tapley Park
We were invited by Head of Science Yollander Elderidge to the Bideford College Science Day on the 20th June at Tapley Park. We demonstrated our hemp fabrics and the production of fabrics from a raw fibre and also had some natural dye plants on display for people to play guess the colour. The Science Day has already been planned for 2010 so as soon as I have the dates I will list them on our events list. g, inkle weaving and try some tasty hemp treats.
